It looks like YouTube is preparing an aggressive plan to increase its share of paying users: a new, cheaper subscription that retains the ability to watch ad-free videos, but forgoes the other benefits of YouTube Premium.
In Mexico we have been able to access the YouTube Premium Lite website, but the site indicates that «the offer is not available». YouTube Premium is currently priced in Mexico at 119 pesos per month, and with the cost in Europe of approximately 60%, Premium Lite would cost in Mexico around 69 pesos.
However, based on YouTube’s comments, it is not known if Premium Lite will come to Mexico and other markets. Undoubtedly for those more interested in ad-free video viewing, but who disregard YouTube Music services, it sounds like a great option. We will see if Premium Lite comes to this side of the world or if it stays as just another YouTube mode.
